Is the Tesla flying car street legal?
Not the flying part. Tesla’s own Roadster page says the top "Rocket" version is not approved for public road use, and nothing shown at the McGregor demo went through aviation certification. The base Roadster is meant to be a road car; the thrusters are a track and show feature for now.

Why flying on the street is hard
- Firing gas jets near people and other cars raises safety questions no current road rule covers.
- Leaving the ground, even briefly, can bring aviation rules into play; no certification plan has been published.
- The demo ran on a closed test site with nobody on board.
